About

I’m a filmmaker, working on everything from short form branded content to multi-episode docuseries and interactive storytelling projects.

Nico works as a director, producer, and showrunner for documentary, scripted, and branded.

He began his career stop-motion animating, directing music videos, and producing independent films before discovering nonfiction and never looking back.

Nico founded a documentary discipline at Google where he served as creative director and executive producer, developing and directing original nonfiction series and branded content. While there, he led a team of award winning filmmakers, designers, photographers, and journalists in collaborations with non-profit organizations including the Equal Justice Initiative, National Parks Foundation, and GLAAD.

'Lynching in America', an interactive oral history project about the legacy of racially motivated lynchings and their connection to modern day mass incarceration and capital punishment, was featured in a three-month exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum and lives on display in the permanent collection of The Legacy Museum in Montgomery, Alabama.

While his projects vary in tone from dramatic to comedic—utilizing visual storytelling techniques as diverse as verite documentary, magic realist animation, and helicopter chase reenactments through the Austrian Alps—they’re united as a collection of real stories, crafted with the intention of showing more than can be seen with the naked eye. He is a writer of run-on sentences and is currently in production on two feature documentaries that are very secret—but he’ll tell you about them if you ask.

His branded work has won top honors at Cannes, D&AD, ADC, Clios, One Show, and Webbys.
